where have I been?

for the few of you that follow the blawg you may have noticed a flurry of activity in recent hours.  i have finally been able to upload the rest of my radio shows from the fall quarter at KSDT and am hosting all the playlists at a more robust internet location.  i urge you to download em all so I can keep motivated to post more :)

speaking of - i have renamed the next segment of my radio show but cant remember what the name was :)  rest assured i will inform you when i remember it.  also the show will likely be on a different day at a different time - so if you like to listen live keep checking back here for show details.

also i wanted to highlight a volunteer program i am working in.  as a part of the program i am working with high school students in city heights (a diverse, economically depressed, and politically neglected community in east san diego) to build a small portable am radio broadcast system to allow students to broadcast topics of interest around the neighborhood.  i will be working with them to record their own radio shows - some of which will be played during my radio slot at ksdt to ensure access to a broader audience.  the students will also be traveling with me to the studio time to time to check out the station in action.  this is a super bright set of youngsters, and im very excited to be working with them.  stay tuned for more information on this project!

RADIO SHOW SCHEDULE CHANGE

if you don't already know i've been DJing a radio show at UCSD's KSDT radio station.  i used to have a time slot on thursdays at 9 am pacific. apparently the admins like my show enough that they've moved it to a slot with more "listener traffic."  For any of you that were tuning in already the show will now be on fridays at 4 pm pacific or 7 pm eastern time.  to stream from our station's webserver all you need to do is:

for iTunes: click advanced --> open stream -->  paste in this: http://ksdt-stream.ucsd.edu:8002/128.m3u

for VLC: just download the .m3u file and open

thanks everyone

be seeing you

went to catalina island this past weekend for some packpacking. saw some magical sights - blue, humpback, n fin whales, plenty o kelp forests and many an acorn woodpecker to name a few.  tis a pretty strange island - reminiscent of the late 60s tv show "the prisoner."  everyone drives little cars or golf carts around and there are plenty of strange "clubs" around the island that the laypeople cant access - like the tuna club.  not sure what the tuna club is all about, but i suppose they like to keep their tunas to themselves.
